About Our School

Colehill National School (St. Sinneach’s N.S.) is a co-educational, child-centred, rural school, under the patronage of the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise. It  is situated in Colehill, Co. Longford – 2 km from Abbeyshrule, 3km from  Carrickboy, 8km from Ballymahon, close to the Longford-Westmeath border.

In our school, we promote the Catholic ethos – respect, kindness, compassion, working to the best of one’s ability, acceptance of difference. Children of all faiths and none are always very welcome in our school; parental choice in faith  development is always respected here. For those who wish, pupils are given  the opportunity to prepare for the Sacraments of Penance, Holy Communion  and Confirmation.

Colehill National School (St. Sinneach’s N.S.) aims to provide an opportunity for each child to reach his/her maximum potential in a co-educational setting and  friendly atmosphere. Our school is a place where moral values such as honesty, justice and sensitivity towards others are nurtured and protected.

Our school also aims to develop civic responsibility and environmental  awareness among our pupils, enabling them to become responsible citizens. In  our school, we encourage pupils to develop healthy habits which will lead to healthy lifestyles. We encourage our pupils to become involved in a variety of  activities – Gaelic football, Soccer, Basketball, Tag Rugby, Rounders, The Mile  Challenge, among many more. We aim to develop in each child the capacity to  think clearly, creatively and critically and to be the best person that they can  be. Our aim is to nurture and guide our pupils so that they become well-rounded,  confident and self-assured children, fully equipped for second level education  and adult life.

The Irish Primary Curriculum in our school is delivered in an integrated  manner, respective and appreciative of differences within our school  community. All of our pupils are given wonderful individual care and support,  catering for their individual strengths and challenges.

In our school, Sherpakids (colehill@sherpakids.ie 086 1841577) run a Breakfast Club  and an After School Facility, which facilitates homework and provides a range  of activities.

The majority of our sixth class pupils transfer to local second level schools in  Ballymahon.
